Storage Solutions from Creamery Kitchens

One of the primary considerations when thinking about a new kitchen is to ensure you have plenty of storage space.

Today’s modern living means our kitchens usually require space to store a wide selection of fresh and dry food, along with the usual combinations of cutlery, crockery and so on.

One of the key requirements a good kitchen designer should cover is not only the functional use of a kitchen – that is, ensuring it is ergonomically laid out to cater for how you intend to use it – but also to provide plenty of storage within the constraints of the room itself.

Larger properties will sometimes allow a separate room such as a larder or pantry to provide this storage but there is no reason why smaller houses cannot provide the same practical storage.

Of course traditional kitchen design has always been centred on freestanding pieces of furniture.  A beautiful handmade dresser is one such example – it can provide such versatile storage, with both cupboards and drawers, whilst it also provides a wooden top and glazed display space as further additional space.

Surface mounted cupboards are always a common feature of kitchen design – these work well if the ceiling height is a little constrained, meaning wall cupboards are less able to be fitted in.  Take this stunning example from our Living range – its smooth lines and clean painted finish beautifully offset the granite worktop it sits on.  With a number of strong, solid wood shelves, there is ample space for storing your crockery.

A peninsula, formed from combining a number of units with a worktop, is a frequently used kitchen design feature.  One of the benefits of a peninsula is that provides a large work surface area – ideal of food preparation, informal dining, entertaining, supervising homework: the list is endless!  Of course, it can also provide plenty of storage.  This design from our Harvest range mixes open shelving (ideal for displaying some of your favoured items), tray space cupboards (to ensure design symmetry) and deep drawers.

If the footprint of your kitchen allows it, how about a combination utility cupboard from our Maison range?  With a different selection of drawers and cupboard doors and shelves, this freestanding piece will provide you with some really flexible storage space.
